    Parking Outside the School

Mrs Sessions set UKS2 a challenge over the half term holidays to design posters that encourage adults not to park their cars dangerously near our school. For example, some adults are beginning to park on double yellow and white lines which makes it difficult for cars to enter and exit the car park, especially during busy times of the day. Check out the work that they have produced!

On Wednesday 29th March, twelve children from Year 6 took part in a multi-schools rugby tournament at Trowbridge Rugby Club.  We won several games in the groups section, coming second overall.  After lunch, we played a tense knock-out game and lost when the other team scored in the last minute. Our team played respectfully, displaying great team work and positive attitude throughout.  Well done!

    Desert To Garden

On Thursday, the whole school took time out from our busy lives for a morning of reflection, as Jesus did when he went to the desert.  The children moved around the school in beautiful reverence to visit various reflections led by our wonderful Year 5 and 6s.  The school had a  meaningful morning in contemplation.

Bee Netball Tournament on Tuesday 21st March 2023

On Tuesday, eight Year 6s took part  in a Bee Netball tournament at St.      Augustine’s. They were in Pool 1 where they won three games and drew one, making them the top team in their Pool and getting to the final.  It was a closely fought final that ended in a penalty shootout, after extra time. Unfortunately, their opponents scored just one more goal than them. Well done to the netball team for coming 2nd in the whole tournament. They demonstrated real enthusiasm, resilience and composure.

The netball team would also like to say a huge thank you to their families and friends for cheering them on and being their Number 1 fans – there were a lot of OOHs and AHs!

    Year 5 Maths Competition

Four Year 5 children represented St. John’s at a Maths Competition held at The Paragon school in Bath. They had to work in pairs, against several other schools,    to complete a series of mathematical challenges and puzzles within a given time. The atmosphere was vibrant and the children did a fantastic job.

One pair - Daniel M and Beatrice P - managed to win the whole competition. Alan K and Georgia R finished in 10th place. Both pairs were fantastic ambassadors and showed a great deal of mathematical excellence.
