Classes 4 and 5 Trip to Trowbridge Museum
Classes 4 and 5 had the opportunity to visit Trowbridge Museum to support their History learning this term focussed on the Spinning Jenny. The children were exemplary ambassadors for our school and many shared it was a very exciting day! We look forward to putting all our new knowledge into good use of the coming weeks.
Parent Café Workshop—Dyslexia
There will be a Parent/Carer Workshop on Dyslexia on Monday 12th June at 9.15am.

The Month of Mary
Beatrice, Daisy and Iga( Class 10) have done an amazingly supporting and leading the children in the Chapel for the Month of Mary during May. The girls lead the rosary decades for all school phases during their free time at lunch and also EYFS and UKS2 class reflections. Well done girls, you have been living out your faith and been an inspiration to us all. We have all learnt so much from these reflections and activities and brought light to our lives
Canon Liam’s Retirement
This week each class created a card to say a huge thank you to Canon Liam for his service and dedication over the past three decades in Trowbridge! It was wonderful to welcome him back into school and we will keep him in our thoughts and prayers as he makes his next move to Bristol.
The Emmaus Water Pump Appeal
Pupils at St. John’s have been very busy raising money for the Emmaus Water Pump Appeal.
Michael T organised an event using straws to draw out prizes which raised £53.43.
Daisy B and Iga K organised a colouring competition which raised £28.70.
Kittie E, Poppy M, Amie L, Iga K and Daisy B organised a football tournament which raised £75.35.
We have now donated £1700 towards the Appeal. Thank you to everyone who supported these events.
Catholic Social Teaching Themes
During the week beginning the 19th June the whole school will be focussed on the Catholic Social Teaching themes, including Family & community, Stewardship, Sustainability, Dignity of the person, Dignity of work, Rights and Responsibilities and Option for the Poor and Vulnerable. Each class has selected a local charity that they will be working alongside and planning how they can be advocates for positive change in Trowbridge. On Thursday 22nd at 3.00pm we warmly welcome all our families and friends of the school and parish to join our celebration and visit our exhibitions which will be displayed across the school and on the school field. More details to be shared at the beginning of Term 6, we are so excited about what we can achieve together!
Pentecost Service
On Thursday afternoon the whole school reflected and celebrated Pentecost by engaging in some beautiful reflections and craft activities. The children were focussing on how they can make a positive difference in our world today! Thank you to the KS2 children who led us in our service with such enthusiasm and Canon Tom for joining us and inviting us all to celebrate at Mass over the week-end.
St. John’s School Healthy Lunchbox Recipe Book
The PSHE Heroes made and sampled some healthy lunchbox recipes in curriculum teams. They made carrot and hummus wraps, and apple flapjack.
We would like to make a St John’s Healthy Lunchbox Recipe Book and need your help! Do you have some recipes you could share? Please send in your tasty recipes and maybe a photo of your child making them. It would be sweet or savoury but it must be healthy.
Requests for Pre-Loved Stuffed Toys
Hello, for the Friend's of St John's Summer Fayre class 2 will be running a Teddy Tombola stall. For this we need kind donations of pre-loved stuffed toys which are still in good condition but maybe not wanted/needed anymore.
Please send any donations into school with your child to bring down to class 2.
We would be most grateful for your donations.

Quad Kids
On Wednesday 17th May ten Year 5/6 children competed in a ‘Quad Kids’ competition at Bath University.
The competition consisted of 4 events:
75m sprint
600m long distance
Long jump
Throwing
The Team demonstrated great sportsmanship throughout the day as well as showing wonderful support for one another.
They were also exemplary ambassadors for the school.
The Team competed against eight schools in West Wiltshire and we are delighted to announce that they came First!
They are now through to the county games!
Well done to everyone who competed.
